Description

ASTER is the consortium among the Emilia-Romagna Regional Government, Universities, National Research Centres located in the region (the National Research Council - CNR), the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development - ENEA) and the Regional Union of Chambers of Commerce, operating in collaboration with the regional Business Association and Innovation Centres.

ASTER’smission is to implement the Regional Innovation Strategic Agenda by fostering competitiveness through the promotion of industrial research, technology development and the improvement of high quality skilled professionals and careers in technology transfer and innovation fields. Within its activities and services for innovation promotion, ASTER is in charge of the management of and support to the Emilia-Romagna High Technology Network, made of Industrial Research Laboratories and Innovation Centres. The High Technology Network has been developed starting from 2002 within the regional strategic and innovative policies and gathers the regional academic institutions and public research centres providing skills, facilities and resources to the business sector.

ASTER’s expertise in raw materials and industrial symbiosis

Aster has coordinated two pilot actions from 2012 to 2015 (with the involvement of the National Agency ENEA) aimed to the spread of an Industrial Symbiosis culture in Emilia-Romagna and organized several seminars and workshops on circular economy.

Aster is core partner of Climate-KIC partner and in its context has carried out a survey on Industrial Symbiosis in Emilia-Romagna, in 2014. Furthermore Aster is associated partner of KIC Raw Material and participates in other projects, in particular:

EuroRM - Design and preparation planning of a pan European competition for the best business plan in the 6 Raw Materials fields (Entrepreneurship Support Services)
RM@Schools - Raw Matters Ambassadors at Schools (Wider Society Learning)

Besides these projects, Aster participated in many EU projects in the environment, energy and waste sectors and currently is partner of one Interreg Europe project on Industrial Symbiosis: TRIS - Transition Regions towards Industrial Symbiosis.
